Passion | Progress | Potential | Purpose

When 2020 started many of us thought that life would be different as it would have changed for the better. Those who made goals for living healthier, growing businesses, starting businesses, mending relationships, starting new relationships, changing unhealthy behaviors, going back to school, learning a new skill, being more assertive, or volunteering can still achieve those goals. The difference is that the method/route/avenue will have to change. Be ready! The time that you are spending at home now is not to strategize, or plan how to achieve your goals. It is to get your mind, body, and spirit on one accord to face whatever is coming. The goals will still be there and you may even have new ones, but it must be a better version of you that tackles these goals so spend this time wisely. No more “I am bored” because there is work to be done, work that we were too busy to do.

There is no telling how much time we have with, or without COVID-19, but every time we wake up is another opportunity to work on ourselves. Time that is well spent can bring tremendous value to your life, and keep you living in the hearts of others long after you have left this earth. Conversely, time that is wasted can never be regained, and can leave you with regrets, despair, and bitterness. We have no control over what is coming, therefore, we need time to work on some core requirements of self that will ensure that our goals align with our purpose and that when we set those goals we are highly likely to achieve them no matter what is happening in the world.

COVID-19 gives us an opportunity to re-author our stories, start afresh, get ahead, make the necessary changes, and be who we are supposed to be by giving us the time that we so often complain that we don’t have, to do it right. How will you emerge after COVID-19? Life as we know it has ceased to exist so there is no “picking up where you left off” or “business as usual” as you will find yourself lagging behind. People often complain that they did not get a good start and that the playing field is not level. Think about it – this pandemic has simplified everybody’s life and is giving us a good picture of what life is all about: kindness, freedom, courtesy, good health, peace of mind, togetherness, family, love, perseverance to name a few. Before you embark on this new frontier, this new way of living, this resetting, please go in knowing who you are. It will clarify a lot of things for you, and it will help to prevent the do-overs. This question will help you get started, so ask yourself “Who am I?”

Life as we know it has ceased to exist and the sooner we accept that, the simpler the transition will be. COVID-19 is no respecter of persons as I mentioned in the previous blog. That is, it does not care if you have money or you are penniless; healthy or ill; happy or sad; young or old. It moves stealthily, invades bodies, and no one knows anything about it. Our portals are not alert to it - we can’t see it; taste it; smell it; feel it when it hits our skin; or hear it. All that we can do is wash our hands, keep them out of our faces, wear a face covering/mask, and stay at least 6 feet away from people. Before COVID-19 people used to say that they did not have enough time to fit everything in with the hustle and bustle of life. Now they can. This is the time to work on self and know who you are. I have always, and will always encourage you to Be U Because No One Else Can.
